July 4, 2016 Declaration of Independence
Soooo I woke up this morning thinking about writing a
Declaration of Independence.
There are many available guidelines that look something like
this
Write Your Own
Declaration of Independence |
It is possible to see in The Declaration of
Independence a Five-Part Structure:
1) A Preamble which answers the question: Why
are we writing this document?
2) A Philososphical Foundation which answers
the question: What gives us the right to declare our independence?
3) A List of Grievances which answers the
question: How have our basic rights been violated?
4) An Explanation of Previous Actions which
answers the question: What have we already done to solve our problems up to
this point?
5) A Resolution which answers the question:
What do we now intend to do?

Your Job
Choose an area or issue in your own life from which you would
like to declare independence.
Write your own Personal Declaration of Independence in which you follow the same Five-Part Structure.
How long does it have to be?
It needs to use all five parts and develop each as thoroughly and as creatively as you can. |
Hmm... maybe it's not Independence you want but a mission statement
Write A Personal Mission Statement
Step #1: Examine the lives of others.
Step # 2: Determine your ideal self.
Step # 3: Consider your legacy.
Step #4: Determine a purpose.
Step #5: Clarify your aptitudes.
Step #6: Define specific goals.
Step #7: Craft your mission statement.
Step #8: Refine it.
or maybe you want to be
Writing your Constitutional self Mission

Step 1: preamble outline
Who's doing this) We the People
of the United States,

form a more perfect Union,
establish Justice,
insure domestic Tranquility,
provide for the common defence,
promote the general Welfare, and
secure the Blessings of Liberty to
ourselves and our
(For whom we're doing it) Posterity

United States of America.

(For whom we're doing it) Posterity
(What we're doing) ordain and establish this Constitution for the
United States of America.
Step 2: Article One
This is the text of Article One of the US Constitution. It is
very organized. Use it as an outline for your Mission/Life Plan, For myself I
have three sections. One each for Body, Mind, and Spirit. These are general
monographs and each is it's own topic.
Step 3: Replace the Preamble
Now replace the parts in the preamble outline with your own:
As a patriarch, in Zion, (who)
in Order to strive for greater perfection, (purpose)
in body,
mind,
and spirit,
grow closer to my Heavenly Father,
provide for my family and secure the Blessings of The Gospel to my family and our Posterity,
do establish and (what)
this Constitution for the My family...My Life Plan

Step 4: replace article one
Body
Step 5: replace article one, again
Mind
Step 6: replace article one, one last time
Spirit

All of this to say I have been thinking about what the 4th of
July/Independence means in the United States.
