WHAT DO GRANDMOTHERS DO?

They gather stories and songs and memories and pieces of cloth and buttons and ribbons and string

They teach us to PRAISE

They gather the ELEMENTS

and show us the wonders of EARTH, SKY and WATER

They help us learn to see WHAT IS

They tell us the secrets of TREES

They teach us to observe ANIMALS and learn from their revelatory natures

They open themselves to JOY and help us to know how to behold the Divine in everything

They know which songs to sing to celebrate JOY

They teach us how to be strong when DARKNESS or pain brings suffering into our lives

They know which songs to sing when it is DARK

They bid us to STUDY and LEARN

They PLAY with us

They operate from gut~level and show us the wisdom of being PRERATIONAL

They tell us to hang out with ARTISTS and get to know our MUSES

They gift to us INTIMACY and show us how to practice INTIMACY

They MEDITATE and guide us to DEVELOP SPIRITUAL PRACTICES

Through their THANKS~giving we learn to live in GRATITUDE

Everything about Grandmothers

shows us how to tap into THE CREATIVE SPIRIT

They are all about

finding

honoring

and practicing

CREATIVITY

They teach us how to create beauty

by stitching together

the bits and pieces

the scraps we've saved

and long swaths of fabric we've been gifted

the pearls

and the chunks of coal

and the rags

we use to dust cobwebs outta the house

and onto our back porches

They teach us to sew together

in beauty

with fine embroidery threads

and raggedy ends of string

and pieces of broken fishing line

the crazy quilt Masterpiece

that IS Our Life Story
